We will write a DBQ next class and students need to read the first half of chapter 22 pages 629-640.

3/20 AP World History

We went over the American, French and Haitian Revolutions today in class.  For homework the students need to compare the Declaration of the Rights of Man and the Citizen to the American Declaration of Independence. Also just a heads up we will be writing a DBQ in class on Monday.  Students may want to brush up on how to write a DBQ.

3/14 AP World

Students need to read pages 300-318 and complete the chapter 21 chart before class on Tuesday, the chart is a homework grade.  By Thursday all of chapter 21 must be read. Possible reading quiz on pages 600-618 on Tuesday or all of chapter 21 on Thursday. 

AP World History Thesis Prompts

Compare one or more of the land based empires in Chapter 19 with one or more of the maritime empires you have studied. What are the advantages and disadvantages of a land empire as opposed to a maritime empire? Three similarities and three differences need to be included in your thesis.




Compare the administrative structure of either the Russian or Qing Empire to that of either the Ottoman or Mughal Empire. Three similarities and three differences need to be included in your thesis.



CCOT- Europe’s influence on the Ottoman Empire from 1453 to 1800. Be sure to include, social, economic, and political factors.

AP World History

Your test on Chapters 19 and 20 is Friday 3/14

3/6 AP World History

We took notes on Chapter 20 today.  The CCOT essay was postponed until Monday.  Students need to read ALL of chapter 20 before next class.  They should expect a reading quiz next class in addition to the essay. 

2/28 AP World

Students need to read chapter 20 and bring a list of CCOT of China (Ming/Qing) from 1368-1796, they should use chapters 12 and 20.  Be ready to write a CCOT essay in class on Thursday 3/6.

AP World 2/26

Students took a chapter 19 quiz and we worked on chapter 19 charts in class.  For homework the students need to read page 343-347 in the Global Experience books and answer questions 1-4 on page 344.

Comparative Prompts


1. Compare the political, social, and economic characteristics of the trans-Sahara slave trade to the political, social, and economic characteristics of the trans-Atlantic slave trade between the years 1650-1800.

2. Compare the political, social, and economic characteristics of the British Northern colonies in North America to the political, social, and economic characteristics of the British Southern colonies in North America between the years 1600-1800.

2/12 AP World History

Students need to finish reading all of Chapter 17 and be ready to write a Comparative Essay on Friday.  The topic of the essay is "Compare the Spanish and Portuguese colonies of Latin America to the English and French Colonies of North America."
If students bring a list of Sims and Difs I will lecture on the topic before they write the essay.  If students do not come prepared I will have them write the essay then I will lecture on the second half of chapter 17.

AP World History Test

1. CCOT- Describe the social, political, and economic continuities and changes over time between the years 1271 (the founding of the Yuan empire) and 1433 (the end of Zheng He’s voyages in the Ming empire) in China.


2. COMPARE- Compare the social, political, and economic characteristics of the Mali Empire founded in the 1230s and the Delhi Sultanate founded in 1206.

3. CCOT- Describe the social, political, and economic continuities and changes over time in the Latin West between the years 1200-1500.

4. COMPARE- Compare the Iberian Peninsula sponsored voyages and expeditions of the 15th and 16th centuries to the voyages expeditions sponsored by China in the 15th century.

You will have to write one COMP and one CCOT Thesis for the test next class!

Students need to read all of Chapter 14 or finish reading Chapter 14 before Thursday.  Students need to be studying for the SOL that they take on Jan. 15
