12/16 Geo

All Geo students took their test on Unit 5 today. 1st and 6th period students do not have any homework. 4th period needs to finish their map of the United States for homework and I will collect it for a grade on Tuesday.

12/15 AP World History

The students took notes on the second half of Chapter 15 in class Thursday. They also got two worksheets. The worksheets are very helpful and the students should spend time over the weekend finishing those two sheets. I will collect them on Wednesday for a grade. Not every square will be filled in evenly on the charts and the maps need to be colored.

Students also need to have all of Chapter 14 read by Wednesday. On Monday I will lecture on the first half of Chapter 14 which most students have already read. Be ready for a reading quiz on the first half of 14 only on Monday.

AP students wrote their DBQ on Why Europe today. They need to read the second half of Chapter 15 tonight, pages 439-449 and be ready for a RQ on Thursday.
If a student did not go to the last test review session, they can still earn 3 bonus points if they answer the following question:
"Why were the Spanish able to establish a territorial empire in the New World?" They need to answer this in depth and turn it in to me by Thursday. They should use chapter 15 to answer this.

I also have the dates for our first SOL:
3rd period will take the SOL on Jan. 18th at 7:30 am
5th period will take the SOL on Jan. 18th at 11:00 am

Geo students took notes on political alliances today and yesterday. AP students took notes on the rest of chapter 6 they also wrote an in class thesis statement on comparing the political, social, and economic characteristics of the Mauryan Empire to the Gupta Empire. This thesis statement was graded. Read Chapter 7 pages 201-210.

Taking notes on the dates, property/inheritance, marriage/divorce, religion, education, profession, children, freedom of movement, and other aspects dealing with women in each of these time periods. Use Chapter 32 to answer the following questions.
1. Give a detalied account of the Cold War including information about all the bold words in that section. (This answer should be about 8 sentences long!)
2. Describe how the green movement started and what it stood for in the 1960s and what it became in the 1970s.
3. When and who started the European Union and why did it start?
4. Give a detalied account of the women's revolution in the 1950s, 60s, and 70s. (Again detalied means write A LOT)
5. In the section "Eastern Europe After World War II: A Soviet Empire" list several things the Soviets did to try to ensure the success and possible spread of communism.

AP World 4/21/11

I lectured on chapter 29 today. I orginally told the students they need to read chapter 30 this weekend and write a 1-2 sentence summary on each section of that chapter. I don't want them to do that anymore. Instead I want them to simply write 7 reactions to the Great Depression. The reactions need to cover the following 7 places and how they reacted to the Great Depression, either directly or indirectly: America, Western Europe, Spain (spanish civil war), Brazil, Argentina, Japan, and Soviet Union. Reactions only need to be 3-4 sentences, but detailed! This is due for a homework grade on Tuesday. Be ready for a reading quiz on all of chapter 30 on Tuesday!

AP World 2/25/11

The students need to finish reading chapter 20 and should be ready for a RQ on Tuesday. The Chapter 20 Guided Reading is due Tuesday. Also students need to read pages 119-123 in the document book. They need to answer questions 1-6 on page 123 and turn it in Tuesday. Students that were absent today need to get a document book from me on Monday or they can borrow a document book from another student.

Geo 2/25/11

Geo students took notes on resources for economic geography. Tonight they need to finish writing their closing arguements for the debate that took place in class on coal vs. nuclear power. This should be a least half a page long. It is due Monday.

For homework tonight the students need to finish their "economic activity" sheet, front and back. This will be collected Friday for a grade. The students should also start working on their economic vocabulary sheet. Ms. Sabey will be checking the students progress on this sheet throughout next week. The voacbulary sheet is expected to be done and turned in on the day of the economic test, which is next Friday March 4th.

The students took notes on the first half of chapter 19 today. They need to be ready for a reading quiz on the whole chapter next class. Next class Guided Reading Chapter 19 due.
Students also need to read pages 102-106 in the document book and answer question 3-6 on page 106. This will be collected for homework Wednesday.
