AP World History

One thing we need to do is come up with a way to remember what is expected for each of the essays we will wrtie for the AP Exam. The students will not have a rubric so I was hoping that we could come up with some Mnemonic device, to help the students remember what is required for each essay.

For example on the Document Based Question essay the students have to do the following:
1. Have acceptable Thesis
2. Address all of the documents and demonstrate understanding
3. Support thesis with evidence from all documents
4. Analyze Point of View
5. Analyze Documents by Grouping
6. ID and explain two additional documents you want to see

So a mnemonic device could be Top Dogs Eat Pizza Grab Apples
for Thesis, Documents, Evidence, Point of View, Grouping, Additional Documents. That is a terrible example but still an example.

I want the students to create some of their own and Monday we can choose which we like best and incorporate them into our preperation for the AP exam. I will list the things that are expected from the other essays and you can come up with Mnemonic devices for them too. This is not a required assignment, just something that will help you for the AP exam!

Continuity and Change Over Time
1. Acceptable Thesis
2. Address all parts of the Question
3. Support thesis with Historical Evidence
4. World Historical Context
5. Analyze the process of continuity and change

Comparative
1. Acceptable Thesis
2. Address all parts of question
3. Support thesis with Historical evidence
4. Make direct comparison between/among socities
5. Analyze one reason for similarity or difference
