5/13 and 5/16 3rd and 4th Period APWH

I have postponed the "Post 1945" quiz until 5/17 for 3rd Period and 5/18 for 4th Period.  On those dates I will collect the key terms for a HW grade and give a quiz on the key terms.  Today I gave out a review sheet for the Chapter 30-33 test.  I will post the questions below and a review video link will be posted on Monday 5/16.  The test for 3rd period will be Thursday 5/19 and 4th period will take it Friday 5/20.

We were wrapping up notes today to finish getting ready for the AP Exam.  The last note sheet "Post 1945 Global Issues" is due the class after the AP Exam and there will be a quiz on it after the AP Exam.  AP Exam is Thursday May 12 8am at the Hellenic Center on J. Clyde!

5/5 and 5/6 3rd and 4th Period

We took a quiz on chapter 31 key terms in class today and we started notes on chapter 31.  Students were given a worksheet on the key terms for the rest of the book.  That sheet needs to be completed before next class and brought back for a HW grade and be ready for a possible quiz on those terms.

5/3 and 5/4 3rd and 4th Period APWH

We took notes on chapter 30 today in class and a quiz on key terms.  HW tonight is key terms for 31, these are due next class and there will be a quiz.

4/25 and 4/26 3rd and 4th Period APWH

We took two quizzes today in class.  One on Chapter 28 and the other on Chapter 29.  We started Chapter 29 notes and students got their 28-29 test review sheet.  We will finish Chapter 29 notes next class and take the test Friday.  4th period will test Monday 5/2.

4/21 and 4/22 3rd and 4th Period APWH

We filled out our AP packets in class today.  We took notes on the rest of Chapter 28.  The video for the second half of chapter 28 will be posted below so if you need to watch it to finish the notes you can (ignore the class periods I mention in the video because the video was made last year).  Students were given a definition sheet for Chapter 29 that needs to be completed before next class for a HW grade.

4/19 and 4/20 3rd and 4th Period APWH

I collected def. from chapters 26 and 27 for a HW grade.  Students took notes on the first half of Chapter 28 (WWI) in class.  We will finish WWI next class, read second half of chapter 28 before next class.

1. Civil War in Russia lasted 3 years longer than WWI, in 1922 USSR was created.
2. In 1923 Lenin introduced the New Economic Policy (NEP) in which he relaxed government control and allowed some free market just to get the economy going, then the government would take back over.  The long term plan was to make an industrialized nation with no private ownership.
3.  After Lenin died in 1924 Stalin took over.

***The TEST for chapters 28 and 29 will be Friday 4/29 for 3rd period and Monday 5/2 for 4th period***

AP Mock Exam

Coach Dragone and I would like to hold an AP Mock Exam on Saturday April 30th from 8am-11am in Café 3 at Menchville.  We have had great success with this the last 5 years.  The students have always said it really helped them with practicing time management for the actual AP Exam.  If a student can't make it, it would be helpful if we had a note explaining why, even if the note says "I don't have to explain why, but my kid is not coming."  We are trying to avoid giving up our personal time on a Saturday if the majority of the students aren't going to take advantage of this opportunity.  Again this is not mandatory but we would love to have a note if they can't make, that ensures you as the parent knew about it and elected for them to not participate.  This exam is an actual AP exam from several years ago so it is as close to the real thing as we can get.

4/15 and 4/18 3rd and 4th Period APWH

We played a definition game for chapters 26 and 27 today in class.  Then we started notes on Chapter 28.  Chapter 26 and 27 definitions are due next class for a grade.

Biography Paper

1.    Obtain a biography of anyone who was born after 1500CE.  Clear your choice with Coach Chappell by May 2^nd or 3^rd for a HW grade.

2. Paper must be 3-4 pages long. 12 point font Times New Roman. Double spaced. Your cover page and bibliography page don’t not count in total page count. So a three page paper will end up being 5 pages total with a cover page and bibliography.
3. Follow Turabian (Chicago) style formatting for citing your source. Papers are due June 2^nd or 3^rd.
4. 5-10 minute presentation on your paper June 1^st- 10^th utilizing Power Point.
5. The paper itself will count 75% and the presentation including the Power Point will count 25%. For a total of 100% for a TEST grade.
